Online Poker Surfer: Best and Worse Starting Hands in Texas Holdem Best and Worse Starting Hands in Texas Holdem ================================================================================ pokersurfer on 05/02/2010 15:46:00 If you're an amateur poker player, one of the first things you should commit to memory is which first hands are worth holding and which hands leaves you no way out but to fold. Best Poker Hands if you're fortunate to be dealt one of these 1st hands, you are definitely having a superb beginning : Pair of Aces : as known as American Airlines or pocket rockets, it's the best possible Texas Holdem beginning hand. Pair of Kings : not as good as two Aces but still a good way to open a game of Texas Holdem. Pair of Queens : if you would like to have a look at the sunny side, you'll be beaten only by Kings and Aces. Ace and King : if they're of the same suit, your condition is even better, since you can form the nut flush at ease. Ace and Queen : the same as Ace and King, a suited hand would increase your odds of stepping out as a winner. King and Queen : unless the community cards contain an Ace, you are in a good condition with this beginning hand and even better if it is suited Ace and Jack : even if appears unsuitable, this beginning hand is still worth holding. King and Jack : still one of the finest Texas Holdem beginning hands, but watch out with it, particularly when unsuitable. Ace and 10 : the Ace upgrades it to a very good hand, though needs a wary play since it can be beaten by any of the beginning hands discussed above. Worst Poker Hands These hands would suit you well if you play some of the lowball fluctuations, but if you play normal Texas Holdem poker, the best recommendation would be to double. Two and seven : if you're dealt this hand, particularly unsuitable, you can't even make a straight. Even if suited you should be so fortunate to form a low flush or the lowest pair. In one word : fold. Three and seven : while it can beat the prior hands, it a meaningless pair of cards three and eight : again, barely even a low straight. Two and six : only if the community cards will include three, four and five, you'll have an opportunity of forming a straight. don't count on it, particularly if there are more than three attendances in the game. 3 and nine : a similar thing : higher than eight lower than just about any other hand. Four and nine : as discussed above, foldem. Two and ten : although Doyle Brunson had won 2 WSOP bracelets with this beginning hand, unless you've got the talent and experience of Brunson, don't hold this hand.
